The new Secula bridge:
a modern and safe infrastructure
The Secula bridge, along the SP20 road between Longare and Secula, was built to improve the viability and safety of the area. With a 48-metre long and 11-metre wide metal arch structure, including the cycle-pedestrian path, it replaces the old bridge that is now obsolete.
The new single span, with no piers in the riverbed, ensures better water flow from the Bacchiglione river, reducing the risk of flooding. In addition, a modern waterproofing and drainage system protects the structure from wear and tear over time.
For sustainable mobility, a new 160-metre-long cycle-pedestrian path was built, which integrates with the existing route. During the works, the continuity of connections was ensured with a temporary footbridge.
The launching of the bridge was a complex and spectacular operation: a 650-tonne crane with a 72-metre boom lifted the entire structure from its assembly point and positioned it above the Bacchiglione river. A precisely executed operation under the supervision of METALSAN.
