the implementation
In 2021 the first stone was laid and in less than a year, the bridge was completed.
In the presence of the President of the Veneto region, Luca Zaia, the foundation stone of the new bridge over the river Brenta was laid at the end of 2021. In less than a year the bridge had been completed, fulfilling the request of the President and the neighbouring municipalities.
Previously, traffic flow was ensured by two concrete bridges, one historic bridge with brick pillars and one which was more recently built. The historic bridge was blasted with micro-explosive charges positioned to save the pillars, which were recovered and now support the new bridge.
100m long, 11.7m wide and weighing almost 300 tonnes the new platform was launched by pushing through the clearing on the orographic right bank.
To speed up operations, the launch was carried out with the predalles slabs already laid. This choice saved weeks on the schedule, despite the increase in weight of the product to be handled. During the last launching phase, the towing winch handled 470 tonnes of deck and predalles.
The bridge was completed one month ahead of schedule.
