The new cycle and pedestrian bridge over the Mallero River involved Metalsan for the execution, assembly and installation of the metal deck.
11m high, 63m long and 4m wide, the bridge provides a pedestrian and bicycle connection to the neighbouring Bartesaghi Park.
From a design point of view, the deck has a distinctive double-arch structure, with a lowered arch and crossed lattice stays. For the surface treatment of the deck, the designers opted for a combined galvanising and painting cycle.
Metalsan treated the on-site welded joints with a special treatment to avoid zinc contamination during welding.
The launching of the bridge, which took place a few months after the work was awarded, involved two 350- and 500-tonne cranes and a trolley at the rear. On 05/07/2021, the bridge was placed in its final position in front of a crowd of citizens who had come to witness the event.
